　　朋友們對我那患有自閉癥的孩子有很多朋友感到很驚奇，這我理解。連我自己都覺(jué)得是個(gè)奇跡。自閉癥的描述跟“朋友”兩字差十萬(wàn)八千里。像冷漠、疏離和漠不關(guān)心之類(lèi)的詞才是形容自閉癥的，對吧？那么一個(gè)患有自閉癥的孩子要如何擁有朋友，或者成為別人的朋友呢？

　　耐心：這些都不是一夜之間發(fā)生的。在Tate能夠區分出每個(gè)人或是記住他們的名字之前的四年里，他都和其中的一些孩子們呆在一個(gè)班。想要讓Tate發(fā)展和小伙伴們之間的關(guān)系，需要很長(cháng)的一段時(shí)間，也需要很多努力。Tate需要學(xué)習真正意義上的基礎社會(huì )技能，而且還要長(cháng)時(shí)間不斷加強鞏固。在Tate的生活里，要盡可能地利用全部機會(huì )來(lái)練習社會(huì )技能。一開(kāi)始，Tate的絕大部分關(guān)系都是單方面的。小伙伴們對他都很好，但他卻不感興趣。我們也沒(méi)有放棄。老實(shí)講，現在Tate已經(jīng)有了同年齡的小伙伴。他也能積極建立自己的友誼。如果我們從未努力，我也看不到現在的樣子，但是，我們做到了。
